Waltham Pool On Track To Reopen Next Summer

The Connors Memorial Pool is on track to reopen next summer with some much needed improvements.

The state-owned pool, which is currently undergoing major renovations after PCB contaminants were discovered at the site last year , will reopen next summer, according to state Department of Conservation and Recreation spokesman S.J. Port.

The new pool will feature two or three racing lanes, a zero-depth entry area, a spray park and areas designated for small children, Port said. It will also have a lift to help handicapped swimmers into the pool, Port said.

The site will feature two new buildings, including an entrance and a separate maintenance facility, according to Port.

The western part of the site will be revamped as a street hockey facility, according to Port. Twelve additional parking spots will be added to that portion of the site, while five other spots will be in the front, two handicapped-accessible and two regular spots, Port said.
